A Wish Comes True At The Falmouth

January 28, 2026 | News

This Christmas, The Falmouth was proud to play a small but meaningful part in a truly magical Cornish story – one that brought together theatre, travel and hospitality to make a young girl’s festive wish come true.

When Hall for Cornwall invited residents across the Duchy to share their wishes as part of this year’s pantomime, Aladdin, one particularly heartfelt response stood out. Nine-year-old Ella, from the Isles of Scilly, wished for the chance to see more shows on the mainland. With Aladdin in mind, she wanted the simple joy of attending the theatre with her family.

Ella lives on St Mary’s. Here she attends Five Islands Academy and enjoys island life with her family on their farm. She made a wish, inspired by a classroom exercise set by her teacher, Alan Craig. Little did they know this would spark a remarkable collaboration between Cornish organisations, determined to make it a reality.

With the help of Skybus and Cornwall Airport Newquay, Ella and her mum, Zenna, travelled from St Mary’s to Cornwall just before Christmas. The following day, joined by Ella’s aunt, they headed to Hall for Cornwall to experience the festive magic of Aladdin. What’s more, they got the chance to meet the cast after the show.

After the final curtain fell, the celebrations continued here at The Falmouth. Ella and Zenna were welcomed for a complimentary overnight stay by the sea. As part of the Cornwall Hotel Collection, we were delighted to offer a relaxing space for them to unwind. Here they could reflect on an unforgettable day, and enjoy some special time together during the festive season.

Ben Young, Managing Director of the Cornwall Hotel Collection, shared:

“We’ve always held community right at the heart of all we do. When we heard about Ella’s wish, it was our pleasure to offer up a room at The Falmouth in the hopes that their stay with us only added to the festive joy of a trip to the theatre. It was a delight to welcome her and her mum through our doors, and we feel immensely proud to have been able to partner with Hall for Cornwall to help make this Christmas dream come true.”

This story is about more than one wish. It’s a powerful reminder of what can happen when Cornish businesses work hand-in-hand. From airline and airport to theatre and hotel, these are moments that truly matter. At The Falmouth, we’re proud to be part of a community that opens doors, connects people across land and sea, and creates memories that last a lifetime.
