A brief history of The Falmouth
The Falmouth was formally opened on Tuesday 9th May 1865 under the Presidency of Mr Robert Tweedy, Chairman of both The Falmouth Hotel Company and The Cornwall Railway Company. As the final stages of the railway approached, the directors turned their attention to the splendours of Falmouth Bay and decided to build a luxurious hotel.
On Wednesday 22nd May 2024, The Falmouth was acquired by established Cornish hotelier group, the Cornwall Hotel Collection. Back under local ownership, and with plans to lovingly restore The Falmouth to its former glory, a glimpse of Victorian seaside glamour is all yours to experience during your visit.

The month of May marks both our 160th anniversary since first opening our doors, and our one-year anniversary as the newest addition to the Cornwall Hotel Collection.
