Cornwall Hotel Collection Charity Walk
The Coastal Convoy, sponsored by Fal River Cornwall and Flushing Sailing Club, will take place on Sunday 12th October, in aid of this year’s chosen charity, Bliss. Alongside our sister hotels, The Greenbank and The Alverton, The Falmouth team will walk 17 miles from Truro to Falmouth, rambling along the coast path in convoy.
What is the Coastal Convoy?
After the success of the Cornwall Hotel Collection‘s Coastal Convoy in 2021, where we raised an impressive £3,000 for Cornwall Air Ambulance, our team is hitting the coast path once again, this time raising funds for Bliss, the charity for babies born premature or sick.
Setting off in the morning from The Alverton in Truro, the charity walk will follow the old railway line at Newham to Calenick, Old Kea, Penelewey, and then Trelissick. At the King Harry Ferry platform, the team will then board one of Fal River’s beautiful boats to Mylor. From here, they will walk to Flushing and loop around to sister hotel, The Greenbank before making their way through Falmouth’s High Street and up to The Falmouth – arriving at their destination by early evening for a celebratory drink.
Participants will be raising money along the way with plenty of bucket-shaking and planned stops at Truro, Mylor, and Flushing. Staff, family, friends (even those of the four-legged kind) will be taking part in the Cornwall Hotel Collection charity walk, each securing sponsorship to contribute to the overall donation to Bliss. Staff participants are aiming to raise a minimum of £100 each as part of their entry.
Support us
Our team is working hard to raise as much as possible, with every staff member committed to reaching a £100 sponsorship goal. If you’d like to contribute, any amount would mean a lot to us. You can easily donate online via our JustGiving page, or pop by the hotel reception to drop a donation into the Bliss collection tin.
A word from The Greenbank’s Hotel Manager, Matt Garland on the chosen charity, Bliss
“On 1st October 2021, our son Jesse arrived into the world weighing just under 3 pounds. He spent five weeks in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, where he received truly exceptional care from dedicated nurses and brilliant consultants — one of whom still supports us to this day.
While Jesse’s care was outstanding, we quickly realised that support for parents in NICU can often be overlooked. That’s why I chose to support Bliss. They not only advocate for premature and sick babies but also provide crucial resources for the families behind those incubators.
We consider ourselves incredibly lucky. Our NICU journey was relatively short, and we came out the other side with a healthy, thriving little boy. But not every family is as fortunate. Bliss is there for those who face longer stays, tougher outcomes, and more uncertainty — and I hope our fundraising can help them continue that vital work now and in the future.
We also couldn’t have got through those weeks without the support of our family, friends, and colleagues. Their kindness, encouragement, and understanding made all the difference — and it’s a reminder that behind every NICU story, there’s a whole community holding things together.
Thank you all so much for helping us support this amazing cause.”
