Insider Guide: How to Spend the Weekend in Falmouth

December 25, 2024 | News

A foodie’s paradise, home to four glorious beaches, and rich in maritime history, it’s clear to see why Falmouth attracts visitors all year round. Discover everything our historic harbour town has to offer with our guide to spending the weekend in Falmouth.

Saturday

7.30am-8.30am
Morning sea swim at Castle Beach

Just footsteps away from The Falmouth, start your day with an exhilarating sea swim at Castle Beach. Dip your toes or fully immerse yourself in the serene waters and soak up the magic of Falmouth’s coastline.

8.30am-10am
A Cornish breakfast to set you up for the day

Served from 7.30am, warm up after your sea swim with a hearty Cornish breakfast. Enjoy tea, coffee, fruit juices, and a range of continental and cooked breakfast options to set you up for the day.

10am-1.30pm
Visit Pendennis Castle

A stay at The Falmouth wouldn’t be complete without a visit to our town’s crowning jewel, Pendennis Castle. Henry VIII’s seaside fortress has stood proudly since 1539 and is now a great family day out.

There is lots to see, including historic weaponry, the Tudor keep and, of course, panoramic sea views.

1.30pm-6pm
Walk the South West coastal path

For a leisurely stroll along Falmouth’s seafront, head from Pendennis Point to Swanpool Beach. When you arrive at Swanpool, why not stop for a dip and then head to the beach café for lunch?

Or, for a longer walk, continue 45 minutes along the South West coastal path to Maenporth Beach, a beautiful sandy cove.

6pm-8pm
Dine in our Castle View Restaurant

Head back to The Falmouth for dinner, where we’ll be serving an à la carte menu of seasonal favourites. From classic grills and seafood, to caesar salads and stone baked pizzas.

8pm
Go to a gig

Famed for its festival and music scene, Falmouth is a hub of talented singers and musicians. Check who’s performing at venues such as Cornish Bank, The Working Boat, The Princess Pavilion, and The Chintz.

Seas the Weekend!

10am-12pm
Visit a local museum or art gallery

On your Falmouth voyage of discovery, plan a visit to the multi award-winning National Maritime Museum, Falmouth Art Gallery, or The Poly.

They all have a regular programme of special exhibitions and are within walking distance from the hotel.

12pm-1.30pm
