Our Guide to Spa Treatments at The Falmouth
From arrival to aftercare tips, we asked our Head Spa Therapist, Alice, to guide you through spa treatments at The Falmouth. Let any worries melt away, and sink into a new state of peace and tranquillity with our indulgent spa treatments.
What should visitors bring with them?
We provide a fresh glass of water after your treatment. However, if you are also using our leisure facilities, we advise bringing a water bottle so you can stay hydrated throughout the day. If you are having a pedicure, we recommend bringing open-toed shoes to wear after your treatment.
What can visitors expect on the day?
On arrival, our hotel reception team will check you in and direct you to the spa, where you will be greeted by one of our friendly spa therapists. Once you are relaxed and comfortable, we will carry out a detailed consultation to ensure you are getting the best bespoke treatment to suit your personal needs and preferences.
How can visitors get the most from their massage treatment?
For all of our massages, we recommend keeping yourself hydrated before and after your treatment. This helps to detoxify and flush out any unwanted toxins released during your treatment. It also helps to enhance muscle recovery, reduce post massage pain and, of course, keep your skin hydrated.
We also recommend hydrating your body from the outside with a nourishing body oil or moisturiser. Apply regularly to keep the skin soft and supple, especially on your hands and feet. Body exfoliation is also beneficial as it removes dead skin cells, reduces the appearance of scars and blemishes, unclogs pores, and reduces any build-up of natural oils on the skin.
After your massage treatment, do not engage in any strenuous activities as this can slow down muscle recovery and counteract the relaxation benefits of the massage. It also increases the risk of injury. So, put your feet up, enjoy some well-deserved rest, and get lots of sleep.
Also, avoid saunas, steam rooms, or submerging your body in hot water. Although this can feel soothing after a massage, it could raise your blood pressure and interfere with the circulation benefits of your massage.
Lastly, alcohol and caffeine are incredibly dehydrating for the body and increase heart rate, which can counteract the benefits of the massage and hinder your body’s ability to fully recover. Therefore, we recommend drinking water, herbal tea or fruit-infused water, full of electrolytes and vitamins instead.
How can visitors get the most from their facial treatment?
After having a facial treatment, we recommend leaving the products on for as long as possible to maximise the benefits of the products applied. Avoid saunas, steam rooms, showering or bathing, as this will remove the finishing products.
Also, avoid swimming in the pool or sea, and touching your face with unclean hands. This can cause bacteria to enter the open pores on the skin, resulting in break outs.
What are the wellbeing benefits of regular massage and facial treatments?
Regular massage and facial treatments can boost your overall mental health by clearing your mind and allowing you to relax and drift off for a while.
Also, regular massage and facial treatments help maintain your skin and muscle health, which will overall improve health and wellbeing.
