Top Five Coastal Hot Chocolate Spots in Cornwall

November 6, 2024 | News

A blustery afternoon at the beach and a hot chocolate in hand, is there anything more wholesome to do in Cornwall this winter? Whether you’re a purist, or partial to the full works, these five coastal hot chocolate spots in Cornwall are guaranteed to warm your cockles this winter.

1. Kabyn Cafe – Gwithian

For a hot chocolate you won’t forget in a hurry, look for Kabyn’s cafe on wheels, parked up on Gwithian Beach. Serving ‘the ultimate hot chocolate’, toppings include a generous swirl of whipped cream sprinkled with crumbed biscoff and mini fudge cubes, served with wafer sticks, a flake, and a tower of flame-scorched marshmallows dipped in rainbow coated chocolates. Need we say more?

2. Swanpool Beach Cafe – Falmouth

If you’re staying at our hotel on the waterfront this winter, take a brisk, 30 minute stroll from The Falmouth, right along the south west coastal path to Swanpool. If you’re feeling brave, join the local sea swimmers for a cold water dip, or hire out a paddle board for an afternoon on the water. With one of Falmouth’s best beach cafes on shore, order yourself one of their indulgent hot chocolates to warm up after.

3. Poldhu Beach Cafe – Mullion

Loved by the locals and open 364 days of the year, head to Poldhu Beach Cafe – one of the most popular hot chocolate spots in Cornwall. The waterside kitchen offers takeaway food and drinks with an exceptional menu of hot choccy flavours, including honeycomb, biscoff, spiced rum, and milkybar buttons.

4. Alcatraz – Perranporth

With sweeping views of Perranporth Beach, Alcatraz is a coffee and cocktail bar on the north Cornish coastline. Originally a WWII gun shelter, in 2018 the historical space was renovated into a bright and welcoming bar with unbeatable ocean views. During the winter months, swing by for a hot beverage (or something stronger) and drink in a fiery sunset.

5. Wavecrest – The Lizard

One of the most southerly cafes in the UK, head down to Wavecrest in The Lizard for a mug of something hot. Cosy up inside as the white horses and the salt spray lash against the headland, or embrace the ocean breeze with a drink to go. Choose from chocolate orange, mint, honeycomb, or a classic hot chocolate complete with whipped cream.
