Environmental Policy

At The Falmouth, we are committed to using sustainable business practices to support our climate, the local economy and our Cornish community. With four acres of palm tree-lined lawns and Castle Beach just footsteps away, we recognise how privileged we are to have such natural beauty on our doorstep; hence, we feel a great responsibility to protect it.

Every day, we encourage our hotel guests to embrace living life by the tide, with unspoiled beaches, picturesque walks and fresh sea salt air. To ensure this continues for generations to come, here are some of the ways we strive to minimise our environmental impact.

TRANSPORT

We encourage our guests to walk, cycle, or use public transport wherever possible. With Falmouth Docks railway station just a four-minute walk, and Falmouth Town railway station a ten-minute walk, The Falmouth is easily accessible by train from major stations such as Truro, Exeter, Bristol, and London Paddington. In addition, there is an electric bike bay situated just outside the hotel and, of course, many wonderful local walks.

In our car park, we have several electric car charging points, allowing our employees and guests to enjoy a more sustainable mode of transport to and from The Falmouth. We also welcome coach tours throughout the year to reduce our guests’ carbon footprint.

RESPONSIBLE SOURCING

Long-standing relationships with Cornish suppliers and a sustainable approach to hospitality are at the forefront of our business activity at The Falmouth.

In our Castle View restaurant, we are proud to source our food and drink from local suppliers to showcase the wonderful produce Cornwall has to offer, as well as minimising our environmental impact. Our seasonal menu has a range of vegetarian and vegan options, to cater for different dietary requirements and because of the reduced impact of plant-based foods on the environment.

Throughout our hotel and at The Falmouth’s spa, we have partnered with Bloom Remedies to supply our beauty products. Born in the wilds of West Cornwall, all their products are vegan, and they use natural ingredients and pure essential oils.

REDUCING SINGLE-USE PLASTICS

At The Falmouth, we offer free tap water refills to members of the public who want to re-use their water bottle. During our events, we provide reusable cups to minimise plastic waste.
